The Club

We are a club of University of Adelaide students, affiliated with the Sports Association. We waterski, wakeboard and generally get wet most weekends and at all times of the year.

The AUWSC specialises in teaching beginners to ski and introducing members to new facets of the sport in a great social environment. Much patience is devoted to beginners to ensure that their first skiing experience is a successful and enjoyable one. Beginners are welcome to come along to any scheduled days out and we are always encouraging people to try to learn new things.

The club has all the gear you need except bathing gear and towels. We supply wetsuits, life jackets, ropes and skis. We don't charge for the use of equipment - all you pay is the ski fee.

We mainly ski at two sites on the Murray River: Morgan and Mypolonga (14 km beyond Murray Bridge). At Morgan we have a riverfront block with all the basic amenities: toilet, hot shower, fridges, microwave, bbq. The Mypolonga ski site is a public reserve.

Car pooling to and from ski sites can almost always be arranged.

How To Know What Is Going On

To keep you all up to date, we have a club email list. You can join it here; don't forget to follow the confirmation instructions or you won't actually be subscribed. Once on the list you can send messages to everyone else by using the following address: discussion@auwsc.com; you can also view the message archive. Message traffic is 95% announcements from the committee for upcoming ski dates plus the occasional request/offer of ride sharing.

IF YOU ARE INTENDING TO COME SKIING, YOU MUST LET THE WEEKEND TAKER KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE THERE. IF WE DO NOT KNOW YOU ARE COMING WE CANNOT RING YOU TO LET YOU KNOW IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL A TRIP. WE ALSO NEED AN ESTIMATE OF NUMBERS TO PLAN HOW MUCH EQUIPMENT TO TAKE AND HOW LONG WE WILL BE THERE.

Costs

Our prices are as follows:

• Membership: $20
  
  • Plus $0 (students) or $66 (non-students) Sports Association membership
  • SA fee waived if you've already joined another SA club and paid it
  • Membership valid from February to February
• One ski: $6 (members) or $8 (non-members)
  
  • 6:00 engine running time (no ballast)
  • 5:30 engine running time (with ballast)
  • You can "double up" your ride: twice as long for twice the price
• Card of 10 skis: $50 (available only to members)
• Site Fee: $7 (members) or $10 (non-members), charged if:
  • You stay overnight at Morgan, or
  • You ride behind a club boat
• Waterski Camp 08: $100 (students) or $160 (non-students), includes:
  
  • Membership fee and AUSA fee
  • Meals and site fee for WSC08
  • One ski card (10 rides)
